Asian Style Turkey Burgers with Ginger, Coconut Milk, and Cilantro

Spice up your next meal with buns with a turkey burger seasoned with fresh ginger and chopped cilantro. Coconut milk adds richness and moistness to them.

Add in soy sauce, sesame oil, or even a spicy chili sauce to season up the burgers, if desired. Use regular coconut milk in this recipe, not the sweetened cream of coconut that is available in cans. And if coconut milk isn’t available, simply substitute 2 tablespoons of regular milk, or use a vegetable or chicken broth instead.

Form into burger-sized patties for burgers, or roll into balls for individual meatballs.

Asian Style Turkey Burgers with Ginger, Coconut Milk, and Cilantro

Ingredients
  

  • 20 ounces ground turkey
  • 2 green onions thinly sliced, green and white parts
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1/2 cup panko crumbs
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons coconut milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger root
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Oil for pan frying

Instructions
 

  • Place the ground turkey in a large mixing bowl. Add in the green onions, beaten egg, panko, chopped cilantro, coconut milk, grated ginger, salt, and Dijon mustard. Mix by hand until everything is well combined.
  • Form into serving sized patties.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium high heat. Add in a little bit of oil, and swirl to coat the pan.
  • Place the turkey burger patties in the hot pan, and pan fry until browned on one side, then flip and continue cooking on the other side until browned, and the centers have been cooked through, safe internal temperatures are at 170 degrees F.
  • Serve immediately.
